Norway Chess 2017 - BLITZ Recap with GM Lars Bo Hansen

Opening: :

Player(s):

Five players to get an extra white in the Norway Chess tournament, and the Blitz war to decide which of the ten chess superpowers would get the benefit. Carlsen started slow, with two draws, but then the local hero switched on the Turbo, conceding only half a point in the remaining seven rounds. Magnus won the Blitz tournament two points ahead of Hikaru Nakamura and Levon Aronian. The World Champion showed an impressive play, mistreating his opponents with apparent ease.  In today's video recap, GM Lars Bo Hansen analyzes for us three compelling games. Blitz is a different sport, and it permits the players to use weapons that they would probably never choose in a longer time control game, coming up with exciting ideas and deceiving tactics,  for the enjoyment of the chess fans.

After nine red-hot rounds, here are the final standings:

1. Carlsen, Magnus – 7½/9
2. Nakamura, Hikaru – 5½/9
3. Aronian, Levon – 5½/9
4. Vachier-Lagrave, Maxime – 5/9
5. Kramnik, Vladimir – 4½/9
6. Karjakin, Sergey – 4½/9
7. Anand, Viswanathan – 4/9
8. So, Wesley – 4/9
9. Caruana, Fabiano – 3/9
10. Giri, Anish – 1½/9

Carlsen, Nakamura, Aronian, MVL and Kramnik will get the extra-white in the Altibox Norway chess super-tournament starting tomorrow at 10 AM EDT.
