Improve Your Chess: Back and Forth Miniature

Opening: D00: Caro Kann Exchange Variation (transpose from London System)

Player(s):

In a relatively quick time-control game, White secures a normal opening advantage but makes a mistake on move 14 that gives Black good play. An uneven tussle ensues, with Black missing chances to sacrifice the exchange. Both sides make understandable inaccuracies, but White is on the defensive. Finally on move 22 White misses the best defense and Black finds the crushing refutation. Faced with loss of material, White tries a desperate sacrifice, but when Black defends, White is left in a lost position and resigns.
