GM Petrov’s Sicilian Dragon - Video 3 - Play against f4 and e5

Opening: B71: Sicilian: dragon - Levenfish variation

Player(s):

In this third video of his series on the Dragon, GM Petrov explains how black can play when white decides to play and early f4, with the intention to play e5. Black has two ways to fight against this early pawn advance. The rule about developing your pieces as quickly as possible is always valid; therefore, Bg7 is the first option to take into consideration. Bg7 allows black to castle, placing the King in a much safer place. Another option that Marian shows in the lesson is Nc6, which is a move in the true spirit of the Sicilian Dragon. Another precious and useful piece of theory on this formidable defense!
