GM Petrov’s Sicilian Dragon - Video 1 - 6.g3

Opening: B70: Sicilian: Dragon 6.g3

Player(s):

After the canonic moves 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 g6 that characterize the Sicilian Dragon, White plays 6. g3. White is preparing to fianchetto the Bishop, exactly like Black does. What are the plans for Black? Are there traps that Black can use or avoid? Typically, Black should develop the Knight in c6 and then prepare b5. After that, he needs to play on the queenside. In this first video on the Dragon from Black's perspective, GM Petrov teaches us how to react to one of the typical variations: 6. g3.
