GM Petrov’s Sicilian Dragon - Video 2 - 6.Bc4

Opening: B70: Sicilian: Dragon 6.Bc4

Player(s):

After the canonic moves 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 g6 that characterize the Sicilian Dragon, White plays 6. Bc4. Black has mainly two plans. He can play Nc6, with the idea of Bd7 and Rc8. If White plays Be3, often Black plays Ng4 to force exchanges, which improves black position. Another plan is to play a6, b5, and then Bb7 and Nbd7. The typical move in both plans is that when white plays Bg5 and Nd5, usually black has to play e6. The conclusion is that Black has a good position, and the game is equal.
