GM Petrov’s Pirc defense - Alternative lines when White doesn’t play f4

Opening: :

Player(s):

In this chapter, GM Marian shows us a few alternatives against Pirc's main lines, where white is not playing f4. If he moves Nf3, black can choose c6 before moving the d pawn, giving you another idea to push d5. Also, he can play a6 with idea b5. Sometimes, if white allows this black to follow up with Nd7 and c5, you can only think about developing the kingside. In case white goes a4, black can choose between Nc6 and b6. Both lead to complicated positions. Finally, let's say that this move order gives black many different possibilities and is very flexible.
