GM Petrov’s Mastering the Sicilian Sveshnikov - Video 9

Opening: B33: Sicilian Sveshnikov

Player(s):

In this video, GM Petrov shows you one of the main lines after Nd5, when black plays Be7. White can take now with Nxe7. In this case, most people prefer to take with the knight, which more or less forces white to take on f6. After this, black has counterplay with f5 or d5 breaks in the center. But Qe7 is also not so bad, and on some occasions, after c4, you can sac the b pawn with adequate compensation. The best for white is to take Bf6, and after black takes Bf6, white has various moves. In the case of c4, black can choose between the endgame with Qa5 or more complicated moves like Bb7 or f5. If white develops the bishop, black can go Bg5 with idea Ne7; after that, he has a good game.
