GM Petrov’s 20 Endings you must master - Video 9: R vs. N and R vs. B

Opening: :

Player(s):

In this video, we will see some crucial positions in the endgames, rook against a knight and rook against a bishop. In general, those endgames are drawn, but there are few positions, which are winning. When you defend with the bishop, you should go with the king in the corner of the opposite color to cover the checks and get stalemate ideas. However, if in the wrong corner, the attacker can combine mating ideas with attacking the bishop. Against the knight, you can win if it is far away from his king and you can trap it or if it is in the corner and cannot escape. When there are pawns, you must know few important ideas about how to win or hold.
