GM Petrov’s 20 Endings you must master - Video 8: Bishop Endgames

Opening: :

Player(s):

In this video, we will learn some of the most critical ideas in the bishop endgames.
We will see some position when the pawn is advanced, and the king of the defending side is not in front of it.
To make a draw, the defender has to control the diagonal with the bishop, as the stronger side has to do some tricks to remove it from there.
When the bishops are the same color, the win is more likely. Opposite colored bishops are often a sign of a draw because you can't trade them and win the pawn endgame, but we will find some examples when if you have two extra pawns, it is possible to win.
