GM Misa Pap - The Importance of Small Tactics in Endgames - Vd 6: Zugzwang

Opening: B18, C78, A88: Caro–Kann Classical Variation, Ruy Lopez 5.0-0, Dutch Leningrad Main Variation with 5...0-0 6.0-0 d6 7.Nc3 c6

Player(s): Pap, Hausrath, Vedmediuc, Werner

To play well and display an enviable level of technique in endgames, you need to have different strategical and tactical tools and weapons in your arsenal. One of the most powerful tools is "Zugzwang"! It is a German word, not directly translatable, but basically, it means that your opponent has no good moves - any move loses or significantly worsens his position!
Of course, to achieve that, sometimes you need to use small tactics. This is what this video is all about. Hopefully, it will help you use these concepts in some of your games and win crucial points. Good luck!
