Now we can see what good plans for black or the side which plays against isolani are. Of course, black would like to block that pawn, prevent any breakthrough ideas, and then attack it. Also, black would always want to simplify the position and exchange some pieces because, with each exchange, that isolani is getting weaker. In some possible endgame, it becomes a real weakness.
