In this chapter, we continue examining typical middlegames in the Italian game. Our focus is particularly on the modern middlegame tabiya that arises after the following standard opening moves: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5 4.0-0 Nf6 5.d3 d6 6.c3 0-0 7.Re1 a5 8.h3 h6 9.Nbd2 Be6. Over 200 official games were played from this tabiya over the last five years. In this video, we examine the most typical ideas for both sides through the following five model games.
