Don't miss the first video!
"In this course, we will discuss various unique aspects of pawn play. We will illustrate these concepts with interesting examples and quiz exercises. The goal of the course is not only for you to enjoy the presented material but also to help you better recognize typical situations in the game when pawn moves should be considered, as well as what kinds of pawn moves can have the greatest impact on the game.".

Video 1: Pawn moves come first!

I have come to notice that club players often fail to consider pawn moves, preferring to focus on their pieces because they are usually more mobile or capable of ‘greater things’ than the pawns. This sometimes leads to missing essential pawn moves. In the first video, we will see what kinds of essential pawn moves are easily overlooked. More specifically, we will see how to use pawns:

  • in positional transformations
  • to create space for your pieces
  • to neutralize opponent’s threats and
  • ‘’a little pawn move’’.

This video aims to increase your awareness of a simple but important rule that we will repeat throughout the course: ‘Don’t forget to consider pawn moves’.
