With three rounds to go Caruana, whose rating performance so far is a stunning 2979, leads solo, pursued only by Giri half a point behind. Far, far distant, the Candidate looks up at the two monsters with little hope to catch them. Caruana-Giri, the game that will most likely decide the tournament, takes place tomorrow.
