Game Of the Week: Edouard vs. Fridman - Bundesliga

Opening: D37: QGD: classical variation (5.Bf4)

Player(s): Edouard, Fridman

Three-time U.S. Champion GM Joel Benjamin brings you a new show every Friday at 15:00 Server Time. Joel is regarded by many as one of the best commentators and analysts' we have in the game today -- so if you want to get ahead of the game, get ready to tune-in!

Featured games of the week are usually tactical in nature, and occasionally technical. But this week's game from the German Bundesliga, which wraps up the 2015-2016 season this month, was like two games in one. It looked like French grandmaster Romain Edouard had a knockout attack, but somehow GM Daniel Fridman, Latvian born and settled in Germany, managed to survive into a tenable ending. That phase proved to be as difficult to play accurately as the tactical phase.
