Every Russian Schoolboy Knows: The Botvinnik Variation Revisited

Opening: :

Player(s): Tomashevsky, Sethuraman, Sarkar, Mulyar

Tomashevsky-Sethuraman. Following on the footsteps of a recent Kramnik-Anand game is not enough for a struggling Russian. Evgeny avoids what must have seemed a forced draw to him and plays an inferior move in hopes, perhaps, to confuse his opponent. S.P., however, is not impressed. He conducts the game in an exemplary fashion and calmly dispatches of his higher-rated opponent. Is White about to quit this entire line. Justin Sarkar is not quite sure. Against Michael Mulyar Justin finds a little refinement over Kramnik's play and poses enough problems for Michael to go horribly wrong.
