Champions’ Extraordinary Winning Ideas - Video 3 - Petrosian King’s march

Opening: D61, C51, C02, B80: QGD: Orthodox defence - Rubinstein variation, Evans Gambit, French: advance variation, Sicilian: Scheveningen

Player(s): Petrosian, Unzicker, Pap, Vuckovic, Stojanovic, Mista, Duda,

In the introduction, we have seen maybe the most beautiful king's march in chess history. Short played a fantastic game, and the idea is out of this world. But, such an idea is almost impossible to repeat. That is why I want to focus on king march in general, starting with the great Petrosian. We will see how king's march can make all the difference, in the middlegame and of course in the endgame. Sometimes even, you can use the king's march as a defensive tool to prove your winning idea and position, for example, in my game vs. Vuckovic. So, be aware of those ideas, as they can be powerful, but don't use those ideas too often, because after all, the king is king, and it should be in a safe place during the middlegame.
