Attack with LarryC: Attacking Lines for Attacking Players #4

Opening: D47:

Player(s): Wells, Habu

This week GM Christiansen continues his discussion on "Attacking Openings for Attacking Players". One of the openings that is high in the list is the Meran variation of the semi-Slav. It is a favored weapon - used by both sides - for many famous aggressive players, notably Anand, Shabalov, Dreev, Shirov and Kramnik. In his show LarryC shows us a less-known masterpiece, played between GM Peter Wells and Japanese FM Yoshiharu Habu, At the Essent Open in the Netherlands, back in 2005. The game demonstrates Habu's flare for creative, exciting and tactical play.
