GM Petrov’s Master the Modern Opening for black - Video 9

Opening: :

Player(s):

This video will show what to do when white goes for the main setup with d4,c4, and e4.
Black has to choose between the setups with e5 or c5. Here we will examine the KID ideas with e5.
Black could play first Nc6 or immediately e5 if he does not want to play the main lines in KID with Nf6.
After Nc6, if d5, we have to play Nd4 and then with c5 to support the knight.
If white goes Be3, then e5 is coming. And now, if d5, you can choose between Nd4 or Ne7. If white goes Nge2, black has even f5. Or simply Ne7 castle, and then f5 comes next.
If black goes first e5 and white plays d5, the knight has to take another route.
You can play a5, then Na6, and you have a c5 outpost.
