GM Misa Pap - Strategic Planning in Chess - Vd7: Blocked Center

Opening: C05, C03: French: Tarrasch - Closed Variation, French: Tarrash

Player(s): Pap, Defromant, Rosenberger, Giessmann, Wittmann

In this video, GM Misa deals with a typical french blockade structure. Usually, we get such a system from the French defense, but of course, you can get this or similar structure in other openings, or with colors reversed, etc. In this chapter, GM Pap shows how to play from the white side, which has a pawn on e5, which offers you the way to the plan in the game - which means an attack on the kingside or just dynamic play. Either way, you need to be faster than your opponent, and at the same time, you need to stop or significantly slow down his counterplay on the Queenside. How it all works in practice? Please do check in this video! In the next one, don't miss the same thing, just from a black point of view: how to play against such a structure. Enjoy!
